Revenge of the Stitches

It's been well over a month since my surgery and I am feeling great and all healed up, well at least for the most part. About two weeks ago after all my incisions were fully healed and looking good, my left incision started to open up again and expose a black area. Slowly the "black" started to rise to the surface, of course me being me I decided to investigate. I grabbed a pair of tweezers to check it out a little more closely. After a little investigation I discovered that the black area was a string or evidently a stitch. I pulled on it a little, it was painful so I quit and called the doc. I was puzzled because I was told that they only used dissolvable stitches and I would have to have no stitches removed....

The doctor informed me that although this was rare there was nothing to worry about. Yes, they had indeed only used dissolvable stitches internally but sometimes when the stitches are exposed to high heat, such as my internal cauterization to stop bleeding. The heat will break down the components that allow the stitch to dissolves and thus it will remain, which has happened to mine. Sometimes your body allows the stitches to remain and other times your body rejects them. My body has chosen to reject them and they are now slowly working their way out of my body via my left incision... It's very strange and a little uncomfortable, although not super painful.
Below is a picture of the occurrence :)

But..... after almost two weeks of the uncomfortable and annoying stitch coming out of my belly last night I finally got it out! All in all there was 1 1/2 inches of stitch and boy was I happy to have it gone!
